Wandsworth Town

Over the last twenty years, riverside development in Wandsworth has been huge.

Buildings that housed old industries have slowly been swept away and replaced with luxury 21st century living. Thanks to these developments, the south west London district has enticed many people from areas such as Chelsea and Fulham, in search of more square footage for their money.

Proving a popular place for young professionals and families, Wandsworth Town has an array of excellent schools and green spaces. The recently modernised town centre boasts the regeneration of the Ram Brewery - a somewhat iconic landmark in the area. Just six short miles from the centre of the capital, Wandsworth Town has Tooting and Earlsfield to its south, Battersea to the east and Putney towards the west.

Shopping and Leisure

In the middle of the town, Southside Wandsworth shopping centre houses a large range of high street shops for some retail therapy. With popular stores such as H&M and Topshop, the centre is also home to an array of restaurant chains including Wagamama and Chimichanga. If it’s independent boutiques that are desired, head to the quieter lanes of Northcote Road, Bellevue Road or St John’s Hill. There is a Waitrose located in the shopping centre and also a large branch of Sainsbury’s on Garratt Lane, providing all of the essentials.

For a wider variety of places to eat, head to Old York Road. There stands the thriving, Australian-inspired Brew, trendy Indian street food at Chit Chaat Chai, the ever-popular brasserie Konnigans and so much more. Head to The Skylark Cafe on Wandsworth Common for a cup of something warm and a bowl of homemade granola, whilst a craving for something sweet can be satisfied at Biscuiteers Boutique Icing Cafe, which offers up charming chocolates and hand-iced biscuits on Northcote Road.

If keeping fit is how you like to spend your leisure time, Wandsworth town won’t disappoint. With local gyms specialising in everything from barre to boxing, there are a multitude of health and fitness centres in the vicinity for whatever type of workout you prefer.

With the River Wandle on your doorstep and the Thames winding its way through the north of the suburb, there are lots of options for a riverside stroll too. Wandsworth Town also offers King George’s Park, Wandsworth Common and Wandsworth Park, all boasting fantastic recreational facilities for all ages. You’ll find a bowling green, tennis courts, putting green, ponds and so much more to enjoy.
